Mike Novick walks down the corridor slowly, having just made the worst mistake of his life. What he had prided himself in for years-- his reading of people, his judging of situations-- had just been proven hideously wrong and he's not at all sure who he is. He does know, however, that he is no longer Chief of Staff of the United States and no longer has the regard of the one President-- one man-- he can truly say he's admired in a lifetime of politics.
